Job Description:

The candidate will be posted at Custom House Torkhum Border

  • The familiarity or past experience in the installation, operation, or commissioning of the following equipment is highly desired:
  • X-Ray and Gamma Ray baggage / cargo scanners and CCTV systems.
  • Good knowledge of electronic components and circuits.
  • Experience in trouble-shooting and component level repair on SMD circuit boards and linear power/switch mode power supplies.
  • Experience in X-Ray / Gamma Ray image analysis, identifying threat images.
  • Determination of causes of operating errors and the associated solutions.
  • Use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems
  • Adapting equipment and technology to serve user needs.
  • Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
  • Understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making.
  • Determining how a system should work and how changes in conditions, operations, and the environment will affect outcomes.
  • Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.
  • Responsibilities:
  • To co-ordinate with Pakistan Customs Officials at Airports ( karachi/Islamabad) for general maintenance and minor repairs of X-Ray/Gamma Ray cargo/baggage scanning equipment and with the operators to find out their problems in operating the equipment.
  • Develop thorough familiarity with the Operating Systems of the Scanning equipment.
  • Facilitate the Operators by guiding them how to use the different options available in the computer based software installed in the equipment.
  • Operational support including review of procedures, best practices, and maintenance initiatives.
  • Perform troubleshooting and root-cause failure analysis associated with equipment failures.
  • Inspect completed installations and observe operations, to ensure conformance to design and equipment specifications and compliance with operational and safety standards.
  • Prepare product reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Provide engineering information by answering questions and requests.
  • Perform assignments, independently, with instructions as to the general results expected and with guidance from Department Manager / engineering specialist on unusual or complex problems.
  • Have broad knowledge of precedents in the specialty area and a good knowledge of principles and practices of related technical areas.
  • Prepare equipment for maintenance and inspection (for example, shut down, lock out and restart).
  • Supervise installation of new equipment, such as other baggage Scanners, CCTV systems etc.
  • Ensure the proper maintenance of the documents and files.
  • Supervise testing and commissioning activities to make sure Systems are well integrated and working properly as per design intended.
  • Ability to foster innovative solutions within the project team to ensure that the deadlines are met.
  • Perform assessment and site survey of existing facilities and underlying electrical infrastructures to determine deficiencies and gaps as per best practices.
